Pear Tree Flowering

My Williams Bon Chrétien pear tree is in full flower, bees are flocking to the blossom and it looks a real treat. Last year my young ‘Williams’ suffered a bit from the heat, the fruit set but didn’t mature properly so I removed the fruit to give the tree a chance to recover.

Hopefully its root system can cope better this year, I’m ever hopeful to be picking pears this year.

  1. I love the sunlight on the blossom in your pic, Karen. Lovely image! We’ve had a couple of very fresh, blustery days here in London and I’m expecting to find my blossom has vanished when I garden tomorrow. Hope your pear tree survives and flourishes – we’ll have to compare notes! Is yours in its 2nd or 3rd year? Caro xx

  2. It’s been blustery here too. I bought the tree as a two year old, so it’s roughly three years old now. I probably should have stopped it from fruiting when I got it.
